Hey everyone,
We have a lot planned for this four day week, so I thought I’d post and get you up to speed before we even begin.

7th Grade: We will work on analyzing Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven.” This week you will deliver group presentations on the poem, and you will prepare for an individual presentation next week. Of course, we must delve deep into this poem We will speculate on potential meaning and analyze symbols, structure, and the speaker. I have attached the communication rubric below.

8th Grade: This week we begin preparing for A Raisin in the Sun. We will perform two close reading activities as a warm-up to reading the play.  The first is a close analysis of Langston Hughes’ “Harlem,” and the second will come from the opening scene of the play. Finding meaning, analyzing character, and developing themes will be our main priorities.
